Nursery budgets are increasingly tight. We’re continuing to provide outstanding learning experiences for our children and there are a number of investments we’d like to make that just aren’t covered by our current budget.
We would like to establish a team of volunteers who will plan, coordinate and facilitate fundraising events throughout the nursery year. Do you have experience of organising events (big or small) and enjoy working as part of a team? Are you interested in learning more about managing projects and getting some valuable experience for your CV? Are you brimming with ideas of different ways we could raise more money? We want to hear from you!
We are also looking for a volunteer who can assist in sourcing, writing and submitting fundraising bids to a number of different funders. Ideally, this would be someone who has professional experience in this field but voluntary experience is also very welcome!
Volunteers will be supported by the Governors Finance Committee.
Please get in touch with Jackie for more information on:
We look forward to hearing from you.
Volunteers & Students
We believe that a placement for a volunteer or student at our Nursery is a valuable opportunity to build experience whilst learning about working within an educational and caring Nursery. Equally, we appreciate the positive contribution that such committed and enthusiastic people can bring to our Nursery.
However, at all times the needs of the children are paramount and therefore a Nursery needs to restrict the number of students and volunteers admitted at any particular time, in order to minimise disruption to the Nursery’s core activities.
Any information gained by the students about the children, families or other adults in the setting must remain confidential.
Trainees under 17 years of age are supervised at all times and are not counted in the staffing ratios. Where the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) is satisfied that trainees aged 17 years or over are competent and responsible, they may be included in the staffing ratios.
All students and volunteers must have undergone an identity check and a Disclosure & Barring check before they begin their placement at the Nursery.
Students will be encouraged to discuss their individual learning needs with their mentor when they start work at the Nursery, and at regular intervals during their placement.
All new students and volunteers will undertake an induction process and will be allocated a mentor who will have day to day responsibility for them and their needs while at the Nursery.
Students and volunteers will be expected to adopt a professional manner at all times, and work within the Nursery’s existing policies and procedures.
While on the placement, students and volunteers will be both allowed, and expected to participate in all aspects of work at the Nursery, unless otherwise instructed by the Room Leader. Students and volunteers can attend staff meetings and will be encouraged to contribute ideas and share opinions.
Regular supervision and appraisal sessions with the mentor and/or the designated member of staff will be established as a means of monitoring progress.
